Social Security, President Obama, Wharton School
Back in the stone age when I attended the Wharton School in Philadelphia, I was bright enough to ask a question of my insurance professor: "what happens if Social Security collapses?"
He replied, it never will. It was instituted by the government as a safety net for senior citizens in their golden years. I pressed onwayrd: yeah, but what IF it does?
He replied, " IF it actually ever does, then the country will be on it's last legs, on the brink of collapse, you should pack your bags and look for someplace else to live."
Those were his actual words, I copied them down in his insurance text book which still sits on my library. At 22, I was bright enough to ask that question.
At 71, last week, I heard the president of the United States say over the television that this month, August of 2011, that my social security checks, MAY NOT be mailed in August.
So much for government guarantees. So much for mr. Obamas presidency.
