It reminds me of an old Mort Sahl joke from the sixties where he said that President Lyndon Johnson was in the Oval Office looking at the world globe and examining the trouble spots in the world that were covered in black....actually, the prez was looking at this big, black globe.
Anyway, if you are not getting the feeling that we are on the cusp of one big gigantic, worldwide political shift then go back into your cave. We are.
At this writing, it is difficult to make out which way the train(s) are heading: one embedded reporter says Yemen is hollering for "Freedom!!" (great, whatever the hell THAT means to them?) Another, in Egypt, is just trying to keep from getting pummeled by police trunchens. Our guy, the despot of the moment, is taking the last great step in holding on, looks like his days are numbered.
" All despots fall, at times it looks like they will last forever, but in the end, they all fall, " Ghandi.
But, of the other countries? Israel is plainly worried. They, like us, cannot see the other end of the tunnel and cannot guess if that light way out there is a train barreling down on them (us).
