Gabby Giffords and Mark Kelly - Gun Control
Who among us cannot think of these two Americans without bleeding a little at the thought of the trauma they have been through? The insanity they have endured? The near death journey the wonderful woman Gabby Giffords has been to her District here in Southern Arizona?
She has been nearly a saint to all of us, politics aside, let alone what Mark feels about her. Were I her husband, shoot MY wife in the face, I don't know how he could keep his sanity I would be so outraged. Keeping his cool in light of this viciousness has taken a front-loader of effort, in my judgement.
And Gabby? The news clips of her surrendering her resignation to the Speaker of the House should have given weak knees to every one.
My point? We should give a pass to these two for whatever they do SINCE this horrific event, this cataclysmic day in their lives that some of us may count as over-the-top, or out of character, or in some way, against some of our interests.
Their continued anti-gun pressure on gun owners and firearms is certainly understandable as well as ill-advised.
This is not meant as a pro or anti gun argument. I understand how and why they feel as they do. Someone shoots my wife in the face, they should thank the Lord I don't do something 10X more rash than our two favorite Arizonans.
The shock of their experience will live with them forever, most likely. The reality of life in America, the gun-culture that lives within all of us here, will live forever, too. The BATFE arm of the Government announced recently that last year more firearms were manufactured and sold than ANY other year in history.
Think about it.
Public confidence in Congress is at 13%. Used car salesmen is double that.
Think about it.
" During the last ten years when firearms were outlawed, we managed to bury large amounts of guns. They were damaged, but still usable. When we are ready to fight back, we will uncover them and strike, 1926.".......Adolph Hitler, Mein Kampf
