Actor Phillip Hoffman and heroin
I heard that depression is anger turned inwards, you begin to digest yourself, that's what my psychologist told me. If that's true, and I believe him, there should be nothing left of me.
Why did Hoffman take heroin? Initial stories say there was a ton of it around when they found him, what? 70 bags? Is that a lot? How much is in a BAG? Sounds like lot....
And needles? I HATE needles.....yuck. I am told by people who actually break the law by taking that crap, that they are ANGRY at something, and like alcoholics, take that stuff to 'feel better.' By now, wherever he is, Phillip must feel way better.
My ode to Phillip Hoffman is just this: " smart lad to slip betimes away, from fields where glory does not stay, and early tho the laurel grows, it whithers quicker than the rose. Now, you will not swell the route of lads that wore their honors out - runners, whom, renown, outran, and THEY DIED BEFORE THE MAN." Thanks to the author for that inspiration.
It did no good for Hoffman to hide from the pain of his life by bombing out on drugs. As the 911 operators will tell you, it's a permanent solution to a temporary problem. Friends at the local cafeteria said he was almost carefree just hours before he did it.
That's what you call a sign. He's on his way out.
TV personality and psychologist Dr. Drew Pinsky was interviewed the night after, and was almost beside himself on camera. The usual professionally focused doctor was nervous, excited and upset discussing Hoffman and his case. I pondered his reaction thinking he spends far too much time in that quagmire that most probably seeing himself as a hammer and more than likely everyone else as a probable NAIL. Quen Sabe?
