S. S. Atrocities - The Second World War
They say we should forget. They say it was a long time ago, and we should get on with life, the world turns and dust settles, the grass comes up and covers over the past.
That, we should move on, they tell us. We cannot drag our anchor forever, we are told.
Nuts.
Tell that to James Sanford and his wife of a suburb of London. Tell that to all the folks who used to live in the small French town of:
WWW.Oradour Sur Glane
Mr. Sanford tells me that he and the Mrs vacations now and then in a small French town not to far from Sur Glane, he has to drive through it to get there.
He almost hates to go to his little paradise because of the drive...because of that horrible two days in early 1944, and the SS slaughter of every living soul in Oradour Sur Glane.
On the website, yes, it's there, you can see the pictures of the whole town, still there, left alone, still ravaged by the SS, buildings partially burned, the churched ravaged, the roof collapsed.
In early 1944, the Nazis knew it was over for them, they were fighting a war of attrition, withdrawl, they were killing, looting, raping, just for the hell of it. If you were wondering about the rumors of killing whole villages, well - here's your proof. Go to the website.
The SS lined up all the men in the village against the church wall and shot them, in front of the women. Then, the trooped all the women and little children into the church, locked the doors, after they were inside, stuck their machine guns into the windows you see in the picture, and shot them.
That, we should move on, they tell us. We cannot drag our anchor forever, we are told.
