Where have all the women gone?
I am a stranger in this century. Somewhere, out of the fog of the 21st century, the smoke cleared and the land and people of Tucson arrived in front of me, and what I saw didn't seem like what I remembered.
This is a land of victims, angry young, painted up, angry, abused victims. I remember a line from a stand-up comedienne who once quipped, " what is it about beauty that makes American women fight it so hard?"
Funny, kinda, but she made her point. I was held captive in Portland, Oregon for far too many years where, it was observed most women there are, diplomatically put - not very attractive, as a lot. And, they TRY. Lesbians are prolific in Portland, so one gives the city a little grace on feminine pulchritude.
I wander too far on the topic. As a man who was born at the break-out of World War deux, the idea of femininity has changed at least 180 degrees from that time. A woman was the ideal of gentleness, a soft, sweet touch, and, as we know, her hair is the most important aspect of her self image. Was then, is now. In movies as in life on the street, it was so then. Screen stars in the 40's and on up through the 80's made sure their coiffers were perfect.
What I knew was, the object of women, was man. The opposite of femininity was a man - masculinity. I was always attracted to the most feminine woman in the room. Pretty much, I hit the target. Once or twice I missed the mark, but, hey, nobody is a dead shot, right?
Today's woman seems to have turned out to be, by my observation, a tattoed, loud-mouthed, over-weight, boot-strapped, under-educated, bloviating, "feminist" who can do-it-all while hauling around a "kid" of her own.
Pregnant bellies hanging out under too tight, short pullovers, kids wandering the aisles behind her, screaming at boyfriends/husbands, using bad/broken English, the kids ONLY example they take into the classroom sets in stone, what may lead them into the legal system within the next fifteen years.
I have often said to my wife that some men will mount "anything" for sex. She never quite understood that until we see an overweight, underdressed Chevy truck masquerading as woman waddling down an aisle somewhere stuffed into tight shorts, screaming at her kids.
And America's current superstar Sex Symbol? Angelina Jolie appointed by our government to tour the world representing our compassion to the ill fed, ill cared for, she hauls her beautiful face and well crafted body around the globe playing with children while continually making movies that portray her shooting up the other half of the world, screaming obscenities at the " bad guys."
Mixed Messages? And what of the young woman that sees Jolie in the movies and emulates the message. I have seem countless images of women on TV screaming that they can kick some boys' ASS.
Is this the future woman you want to settle down with? to be gentle and kind and soft with? To raise children with? This is what's happening to our culture, rotting from within. Who says America will last forever. Name one culture that is still with us? The Romans? Peter the Great? The Phoenicians, The Greeks. When is the last time the Italians won a war?
It starts with the feminine side of our nature, the women in our culture, they are the softness that God has given us to give our worse instincts balance. The GI's in World War II were our true Heros. They fought for God, for country and for the women at home.
So, please God, it should always be.
