The Zimmerman Trial - AND the AFTERMATH
From what I gather (haven't followed it that much), reporters indicate the probability of Innocent verdict is probably likely: self defense. I gathered that because the media is now covering marches outside of angry blacks with signs " JUSTICE FOR TRAVON." One can imagine the rest.
The justice system has been working quite well in our country: OJ Simpson, for instance. When he was acquitted, every black student in this country jumped for joy, and Bill Cosby addressed the graduating class of Brown University telling them that their sense justice was visibly squued that day and further, the " entire nation saw you."
Black ministers now televise today their feelings about the "injustice" about Zimmerman's upcoming Not Guilty verdict before it even is spoken, and he holds no blame for crowds that "may explode" in violence should that happen.
That, I pray, never happens. Because I am old, I remember the last time. Black crowds have nothing to win through senseless violence except setting civil rights back to 1968.
I walked through the ruins of North Philadelphia after the National Guard put down the riots at Broad and York with gunfire. I remember the riflemen in the streets, the gunfire, shell casings everywhere. The rioters, some posted snipers on the roofs and were killed where they lay.
Who did they think would win? They same happened in Trenton, New Jersey.
Most of the people I knew in my community packed guns secretly. That in a state if they caught you, would throw you in jail for I year in Graterford prison - just for possession. It was worth the risk. Dangerous times in Philadephia.
The only net gain was the destruction of black neighborhoods and they remained that way for years. Out of their own destruction emerged a own hero - The Reverend Leon Sullivan who lead the resurrection.
