UPS Bailout from Congress VS FEDEX
Once, in another life, I worked briefly for UPS as a Christmas-time delivery driver. It was in the early 70's between jobs. I learned a lot about myself, and mostly about man's inhumanity towards himself, thanks to the folks in brown.
Enuf. Later, in another life, in Denver, I applied for a position with UPS, an executive sales position, and was turned down. It had to do with age-descrimination, I filed a complaint with the EEOC and two years later they said that they could find "no pattern of age discrimination" in the UPS heirarchy, therefor couldn't support me if I chose to file a lawsuit. I could if I wanted to but, they would not file Amicus Cureai. Means I'm on my own. The investigator said that, basically, I'm under 60, white, employable, "good luck with that one." The investigator's words, not mine, he was a fired aircraft controller from the Reagan era, scars and all.
" Get on with your life and put it behind you, " he told me. I took his advice. I say the above for full disclosure, I am not a great fan of the company in brown. two years later, I met the youngster who got the job I was qualified for, the ink on his college degree had just dried a month before a sales call to my office.
Now, Congress wants to bail out UPS because they are apparently broke. Obama has his eyes on all those union votes and according to the emails I'm getting, this is under the radar, and an e/mail campaign is being conducted to block the effort. So far, it's succeeding.
As the old joke goes, on the left hand, you have the right had. Funding the e/mail campaign costs is UPS chief, main competitor - Federal Express.
Imagine that.
