Making a Case for Handguns Part 2,
There are many common arguments against owning a gun, among are peoples' personal opinions, "...I don't see the need for people to own a ..........(you name it.)
One's personal opinion is guaranteed by our Constitution's First Amendment - Freedom of Speech. However, one's ability to own it is guaranteed by the Second Amendment. Taking it away from anyone is against the Fourth Amendment (among other items) is against the fourth Amendment - unreasonable search and seizure.
These are guarantees offered to citizens of America who are not convicted felons, that is honest, law abiding, contributing Americans, working hard, paying taxes, jury duty, school boards, doing what citizenship requires.
Arguments against owning pistols relate to the dangers in careless hands of foolish owners who admittedly can be as great a threat to themselves and others whom they wish to protect as to any potential intruder.
This does not alter the fact that they can become as proficient as any police officer - and few would advocate disarming our police. (some point to London police, but lately they have reluctantly started to arm with a rising crime rate.)
The need, then, is for compulsory firearms training for home owners to become expert in using their handguns. Added benefits here would be a back-up for short handed police in times of economic cut-backs.
Next - the Moral Right to Use Handguns as Equalizers.

The right to carry a firearm is being more commonly accepted in America these days, no matter what you hear. The fact is, more pistols in the hands of honest citizenry, less chance of rowdy, out-of-control illegal goings on. Ask any policeman or sheriff as I have. " things have kinda quiet lately"
