How did we become so NASTY - Part 2 Sexual Abuse

Yeah, then dirty, nasty things came to the surface, sexual abuse of kids: the priesthood. Sure, the church buried them, rumors of 'secret' places in New Mexico, shuffling the problems around, problem priests moving post to post. Then Hollywood got it, "Law & Order" brought it to light, followed by newsprint, public discussions, and churchgoers falling away.
Cynicism reigns throughout the empire, these days. Then, sex offenders, sex offender registries, teachers in our schools caught red-handed. The old stereotypes of old men salivating in dark corners are now gone.
Enter now the blue-eyed blond gym teacher, female late 20's with perfumed long locks fiddling with young boys and attracting, eventually, a long line of admirers, not the least of which eventually wear badges, handcuffs and warrants for her arrest.
Mothers, fathers and families do not know where to turn. School principles and School Boards are caught flat-footed about this new conundrum. Who knew? What do we do now. School "counselors" are anything but. Most are in name only, have the least possible education in that direction, driven mostly by desire for achievement in that field or ego, power or control, little else.
Internally, the system flounders. Wild mistakes and overreactions abound these days in the early part of this century. Parents enter schools at the top of the lungs, screaming at administrators, who have minimal training in psychology of the problem at hand.
Ill equipped to handle the current craziness, old time on-site principals and school administrators are dropping out at an alarming rate. The general public remains frustrated watching bucket loads of their money poured into education while no problems are fixed and national standards continue to sink in the world below such nations as Singapore.
Citizen groups continue to pound back at special elections and override votes for more money knocking down such schemes, forcing increased expenditures in already overburdened voters in these school districts. Public cynicism seems to continue.
