" The Shooting in Tucson, Gun Control, Media Hysterics, Gabrielle Giffords, Arizona Daily Star,Local Tucson Politics
I have a Pacemaker. I may have mentioned it before. I got it one month before " the shootings." Today, 1/28/2011, I had to go to the same hospital Giffords was in to have my bionic clicker ticker checked, and, thought I'd drift down to the front lawn and check out the memorials to Gabby Giffords. They were, indeed, very moving reminding me of Oklahoma City.
I was there in the aftermath of that tragedy, reading the many signs and memorials on the fence in the days, weeks, and months after that lunatic, nut-case McVeigh destroyed forever so many lives, both living and dead. Then, I was shattered by the notes, cards, letters, braclets, momentos left behind. I won't go into it here as I cried for days after I witnessed the heart rendering display.
Today, I walked peacefully though the lawn outside the hospital around what must have been five thousand various memorials and expressions of hope, sadness, and wounded hearts that carried these people, Tucsonsons, mostly to the University Hospitals front door, to leave a sign of hope for Congresswoman Gifford and the slain bystanders.
It was horrible, heart rendering and an expression of their feelings of charity, hope, prayer and love. Children, parents, Tucsonans to Canadians, fire-fighters, doctors, ambulance drivers, everyone left sincere messages, all praying for a quick recovery back to health and for the souls of the departed.
Every prayed for return to sanity amongst those struck down by insanity. Those crippled by grievious mental illness.
Of the nearly 5,000 memorials, I could find only four (4) that said anything even remotely sensible about gun control - a political statement. As everyone knows the shooter, a long, maniacal you man made now such statement about guns, or a political point of view. Nothing had entered into his twisted mind about that.
Only the American Media and their "objective" commentators have added their 'unbiased' points of view on gun controls, or talk radio, or other blather, which has as far as any objective press reports can counter, have not yet been printed.
The Arizona Daily Star and cartoonist Dave Fitzsimmons continue on with a barrage of Letters to the Editor that numbs the mind on the subject. Fitzsimmons toons the Editorial page with anti-gun cartoons with no rational (or humorous) point-of-view on guns, or gun control that would in any way have controled what happened January 8th.
The avalanche of letters all signalling a left turn on guns offers no better answers except venting spleen on the subject. One logical question should be asked on the subject since none comes from the chronic complainers.
Ok, we get it..;.you don't like guns. Quit your bitching. In a perfect world where you are in complete control, tell us YOUR grand plan? Tell us. Give us the skinny? What, if anything would you do? What is your road map?
