"The Korean War" Part II
It is my fervent hope that, as the two Koreas heat up the stage for a possible war, and, as we send our battle carriers into harm's way, that we DO NOT engage in another "police action" when North Korea invades the south, once again.
I am old enough to remember when it happened the last time. i was ten when they kicked off the hostilities the last time. I was fourteen when Pan Munjom Peace talks ended the violence.
Eisenhower was elected on the promise to end the KJorean War. He did it. By breakfast following the inauguration, he was back in battle gear on the DMZ in south Korea, binocs to his eyes, surveying the northern landscape, talks began, and he kept at it until it was over and the tguns went silent.
During the "war" the US Army had a movie series called " The Big Picture" which showed in all the American movie houses right before the main feature during the conflict years. I remember it. They showed actual combat footage of the gunfights and the battle casualties of the village people left for dead once our army cleared each village of North Korean foot soldiers.
They slaughtered hundreds of innocent, unarmed civilians and stacked the bodies up three to five feet high in rows that went as far as the eye could see. I got so tired of seeing those movies, i stopped going to the picture shows for a while. Village after village were killed off. The bodies were shoveled under by our soldiers driving bulldozers. I was eleven through thirteen at the time. We wrote stories in school about what we saw.
I'll never forget it. The North Koreans came over the mountains in their attacks, bugles screaming by the thousands, many didn't have rifles until our GI's killed off the front rows, then their back rows picked up what rifles were available.
These people are vicious, bloodthirty, pugnacious fighters and the only way to beat them is to nuke them or overwhelm them five or ten to one.
In my opinion, we cannot win this one. our curren tpresiden tis NOT a war-time president. ANY attempt to engage the North Koreans will be a waste of our blood and treasure and we should engage in ANY other avenue except war fare. Obama doesn't have the stomach for this and we will not win it.
I hate to say it, I loathe saying it, but we need a Ronald Reaga, McCaine, Somebody strong, with a boyonet in his teeth. Anybody except Obama who will not have the drive to win it.
