WYATT EARP'S QUOTES AND AUTHOR/EXPERT GLENN BOYER'S REMARKS

As any historian of that family tree knows, on background, Wyatt had certain health issues not popular among the citizenry of the day. Looking for love in all the wrong places?
Author and expert on Earp in several interviews with me, the late Glenn Boyer, said that Tombstone was full of bordellos all along the back streets of the town. That kind of "monkey business" didn't belong on Main Street in the largest town between St Louis and
San Francisco (at the time.).
The town doctor who specialized in gun shot surgeries also treated Wyatt Earp with " Heavy metals" and long, thin, probing metal forceps. I've seen those very instrument on display at the University of Arizona History Museum at 2nd and Palm, Tucson.
Boyer speculated it was for some form of venereal disease. His examination of Mrs Earp's medical records much later in her life indicated a chronic list of complaints of lower abdominal pain, NSD.
Mrs Earp harassed Wyatt to get an operation to remove his prostate. Wyatt refused and snapped back and said, " if you want it so bad, you do it, " Boyer showed me in his voluminous notes in his office at the time in Bisbee.
Since Boyer's death, I do not know where a truckload of notes, historical material, photos and ephemera has disappeared to, but a treasure trove seems lost.
As a footnote, in the mid 1930's, Boyer tracked Mrs Earp's return to Tombstone shepherded by her two nephews. During a rare moment of peace and quiet, the men sought comfort at the Crystal Palace Saloon on Allen Street.
' You can't convince me that Wyatt Earp ever killed anyone, " said one of the nephews to the bartender.
" Why is that," the bartender replied.
"  He lived with that woman for 42 years and he didn't kill her!!"

  1. Thanks for posting this. Ive been digging into Glen and his work. Much of what he had went up for auction and apparently the University of Arizona is in possession of a portion of his written material.
